H.E.A.L. has accomplished much in the last year!
Initial talks with the state resulted in over $500K of appropriations, enough to purchase and start to renovate the shelter building “The Nest”;

A Founding Board was created June 1, 2005;

Mission and by-laws were adopted;

H.E.A.L. incorporated and got its 501 c 3 status;

The Nest was purchased in August 2005;

An award from the Hubbard Foundation for a security system;

SURVIVOR, the first fundraiser was held at the Spencer Theater;

Phase 1 of renovations is underway
MUCH MORE TO DO…there are many more tasks for the H.E.A.L. Board to undertake:
Development of a comprehensive building renovation plan;

Work toward Capital Outlay monies for 2006;

Development of a Staffing Plan;

Development of a Strategic Plan;

Development of subcontracts and provision of services;

Development of Fundraising Plan, to complete renovation as well as furnish and staff The Nest, prior to operation;

Reporting to the County, CYFD and other sponsors
